California State Library park passes available from Stanislaus

The Stanislaus County Library now offers free California State Park Passes, available at checkout with a library card at Stanislaus County Libraries. The new vehicle day passes provide access to more than 200 participating state parks.

“We have so many beautiful state parks within driving distance,” said Stanislaus County Library Manager Sarah Dentan. “Having the ability to check out a parks pass at the library makes these resources more accessible for all California families to explore and enjoy.”

Research shows that outdoor recreation is associated with better mental and physical health. With the largest system of state parks in the country, California offers plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the state.

California State Library park passes can be borrowed for 14 days. Passes are valid for entry of a passenger vehicle for up to nine people or a registered motorcycle on the highway.

These day-use vehicle passes are not valid for per person entrance or tour fees, boat use, camping, or special events. For more information on the California State Library Parks Pass program, including links to an interactive map and a list of ineligible parks, please visit

To request a vehicle day pass, search for “California Parks Pass” in the library’s online catalog; access the catalog on or the Stanislaus Library app.

The California State Library Parks Pass program is a partnership between California State Parks and the California State Library, supported by funds from the State of California.
