Bastard reopened, adding to a row of outdoor restaurants on W. Broadway
Bastard, the Michelin-starred restaurant run by Drew Nieporent and chef Markus Glocker, reopened on Friday and serves on the sidewalk in the glow of Liquor Store’s neon sign. It’s a great food scene at the top of West Broadway, with neighboring Tribeca Tavern and Frenchette both open curbside next door.
And since there’s no traffic at this end of West Broadway because of Tribeca Park, and N. Moore doesn’t go east, it’s actually quite nice to be on the street.
Opening hours at Le Bâtard are from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. (Takeout and delivery begin at 4 p.m., and seated reservations begin at 5 p.m.) Make reservations on the site here, or call 212-219-2777. See the outdoor menu here. It’s more limited but still diverse and elegant. The manager said he would prefer full service and indoors, as it should be, sidewalk service has so far been relaxed and festive. 239 W. Broadway at the intersection of N. Moore.
The restaurant opened in 2014 and has garnered a Michelin star every year since as well as three stars from the New York Times and New York Magazine, and won the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in America in 2015 (Frenchette l ‘ got last year).
