Free outdoor activities available thanks to Poudre River Trail-athlon all summer – Greeley Tribune

Registration is open for the free summer Poudre River Trail-athlon with outdoor activities for all ages.

To begin summer adventures, pick up a Trail-athlon Adventure Kit in Greeley at Lincoln Park Library, Centennial Park Library or Farr Regional Library. In Windsor, pickup is available at Windsor Severance Library.

The kits include activities such as bike and walking discovery challenges, mapping, creativity exercises, learning about rail and trail safety, wildlife viewing and a scavenger hunt, according to a press release from the city. Instructions, materials and worksheets are also provided.

“This free program is a great way for the community to experience the Poudre River Greenway and connect with nature,” Poudre River Trail Leader Bob Hinderaker said in the release. “We hope everyone will explore a whole new world along the Powder River Corridor.”

Trail-athlon participants must return packages to participating libraries by August 15. While supplies last, those who have completed more than two activities may be eligible for trail prizes.

Participants who hand in the completed activity kit will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win a new bike.

The 2022 Adventure Poudre River Trail-athlon is sponsored by the Weld Trust and Kaiser Permanente. The 10 activities were sponsored by community organizations and businesses.
