Girl Scouts to host outdoor activities and information event on September 26

The Girl Scouts of Chesapeake Bay, Duty Unit 614, will be hosting a fun outdoor afternoon from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 26 at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel.

Girls and adults interested in learning more about joining and volunteering are encouraged to attend.

There will be a picnic with grilled chicken donated by Mountaire Farms, games and prizes, and a scavenger hunt.

Current Girl Scouts will participate in a Rope Runner Derby and Service Unit Awards Ceremony for Scouting Achievement and Outstanding Leadership.

Volunteer facilitators dedicate a few hours each month to share their passion for the outdoors and activities including STEM, STEAM, crafts and / or entrepreneurial skills.

Girl Scouts are go-getters, innovators, risk-takers and leaders, and the organization is always looking for more members to join in on the fun, skill building and adventures.

Participants will see the diversity of scouts and troops. Each troop is different depending on the interests and skills of the leaders and the girls. There are troops who go on adventures, love giving back to their communities, love crafts and songs, and troops who do it all.

Girl Scout leaders will be on hand to discuss how to become a troop leader or enroll girls in Scouting adventures.

Entrance fees to Trap Pond State Park are $ 4 per vehicle within the state. The event is free, but attendees may feel free to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
