And sure, you could follow January’s legions of warriors on their annual gym migration, but what if we told you there was a way to train with expert trainers, completely free of charge, in green serenity? of our emirate’s network of parks.
With daily sessions until Wednesday, January 26, 2022, @activeparksabudhabi is a comprehensive fitness campaign designed by a creative collaboration between the Department of Community Development (DCD) Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council ( ADSC).
Open to everyone ages eight and up, Active Parks has held 380 free outdoor fitness sessions across 12 parks and urban spaces in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
These locations include Madinat Zayed, Al Ruwais 2 Park and Al Mirfa National Park in Al Dhafra region; Al Jahili and Al Towayya parks in Al Ain city; and Khalifa City Park 3, Sheikha Fatima Park, Dolphin Park, MBZ Park, Sports City Park, Electra Park and Al Shamkha Park 4.

Make Fitness Fun
Available activities include Zumba, RunFit, Yoga, Bootcamps, CrossFit, Stretch & Mobility and yoga.
Active Parks has been specifically designed to facilitate participation of all ability and fitness levels, with specific inclusive sessions for the determined.
The program launched on December 30, and so far hundreds of residents have taken on the challenge of working on their fitness goals in the more than 160 sessions already led by experienced instructors.

There is no doubt in the scientific community about the importance of exercise in our lives. In addition to helping us stay fit, live longer, boost our confidence levels, fight anxiety and depression, boost the immune system, make friends, fight disease and enjoy the sincere and haunting beauty of the natural world around us, exercise also provides us with the opportunity to support each other, be the best “us” we can be, and work on that list of pending podcasts we wanted to play.
Speaking about the initiative, HE Mohamed Helal Al Balooshi, Executive Director of DCD’s Office of Strategic Affairs, said, “Our communities are seizing the opportunity to stay fit and healthy by participating in a diverse range of free courses in according to their needs. and needs, in the many green spaces that are part of the emirate’s world-class integrated infrastructure.
HE Talal Mustafa AL Hashemi, Executive Director of Sports Development Sector at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, added: “After a successful launch, we can see how well the inclusive Active Parks program is being embraced by our multinational community. The activity schedule caters to all ability levels, and it’s obvious to everyone here how inclusive and welcoming the sessions are, regardless of ability.
