Showcasing some of the most exquisite scenery on the Virginia coast, Newport News Park is a treasure trove of attractions, activities and adventures.
For starters, it’s one of the largest municipal parks east of the Mississippi River. Measuring over 7,500 acres, this park has more than enough room to walk around.
From kayaking to mountain biking, disc golf, archery and pedal boating, the range of activities offered by the park is simply impressive. There are even 188 campsites available for those who wish to extend their visit to this incredible outdoor space.
The park includes a magnificent network of trails that meander through the varied landscape. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!
One of the most popular amenities in the park is a 5.4 mile bike loop that begins at the campground office. Part of the loop passes through Colonial National Historical Park, the site of George Washington’s siege during the Revolutionary War.
While the park may be the most popular in the spring and summer, you’ll definitely want to visit it during the winter, when you can expect the annual light shows of the holidays.
