Outdoor activities at Black Rock Park along Lake Buchanan


If you’re planning any outdoor adventures this summer, you’re probably looking for a few ways to beat the heat, and Black Rock Park along Lake Buchanan certainly has you covered.

Black Rock Park is a 25-acre park along 22,400-acre Lake Buchanan, ideal for striped bass and largemouth bass fishing, boating, and camping.

The park offers activities on and off the water for families throughout the year. These activities include fishing, mini golf, sand volleyball, swimming and paddle sports.

If you want to stay in Black Rock Park, there are 18 colorful waterfront cabins and 32 campsites. Officials say there are also glamping accommodations on the way with Airstreams which will soon be available for rent.

Black Rock Park is just one of more than 40 LCRA parks from San Saba to Matagorda to the Gulf Coast.


Officials remind people that when out on the water they should keep a a few things to keep in mind to stay safe.

  • Always keep safety in mind.
  • Wear your life jacket. It’s the best way to protect yourself from drowning.
  • Always keep an eye on everyone in your party.
  • Never swim or boat alone.
  • Beware of hidden dangers underwater.
  • Stay hydrated.
