The San Antonio Natatorium, located at 1430 Cesar E. Chavez, is a public indoor pool and is available for swimming, swimming, and fitness lessons with pre-registration.
The town of San Antonio also has a number of wading pools available for free. They are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Parks and Recreation officials are also recruiting aquatic staff for the summer season.
“While we are experiencing industry-wide lifeguard shortages like other municipalities across the state and nation, our team is working hard to ensure the community has fun swimming and enjoying the recreational opportunities this summer,” said Shanea Allen, parks and recreation manager for Aquatics.
There is a $700 hiring incentive for new hires and returning staff.
“We are also actively recruiting in schools and at events, which we were unable to do last year. Through these efforts, we are able to expand pre-season pool sites to provide more swimming opportunities in more neighborhoods than in previous years,” Allen said.
Lifeguard courses will continue throughout May. For more information, call the San Antonio Natatorium at 210-207-3299.
